The Kichwas still use the fauna and flora resources of the tropical rainforests for artisanal, nutritional, and medicinal purposes. They maintain traditional agricultural systems, and also engage in hunting, fishing, gathering, and exchange of products and crafts. These communities work on the production of canoes in chuncho or ahuano wood and weapons such as the bodoquera made in Chonta.
